Most of these are my photo's from the Hawk Missile Sites I was at, but some have been sent in by others. If you have any Hawk pictures, either in a computer file or just a good old paper print, let me know and we'll figure out how to get them displayed here on the Hawk Okinawa Page. Here's some of the Hawk Sites I found using Google Earth. Once you figure out what to look for, it a lot easier to find them. Site 12 looks like it was converted to another use, but 10 and 11 look pretty much the same - maybe Japan's National Defense Force still uses them?
Best Viewed at Screen Size 800 x 600 The following pictures are from Sgt. Larry Trainer in Matthews, NC. Larry started at B/8/1 on Site 11 and was on Okinawa from August 1965 until February 1968 and remembers 1SG Oren Philpot as a great guy. Here's some pictures from the 1967 Accipter Year Book. Accipter is the Latin name for birds that are known as hawks.

John worked at the A-8-1 TAC Site in engineering for most of his time there ('67-'69). Initially he worked in the motor pool and was eventually promoted to E5 in charge of engineering at A-8-1.

Clovis, CA. He was with A/8/1 at site 10 from mid 1969 thru 1970 and worked as a 24F20 (radar tech on the pulse radars and the BCC).
